My 1st Photo Stories

Several years ago was my first attempt using Photo Story with my students.  We had just finished reading some short stories by Gary Paulsen and his training of sled dogs.  That particular year Paulsen was racing in the Iditarod.  As we followed along his race, my students researched various aspects of the Iditarod and presented Photo Stories of what they learned. They turned in a works cited pages to document where their pictures and information came from.

Since then we have used Photo Story for presidential commercials and other types of advertisments.

  1. What a cool project! I am impressed that your students can do these kinds of things, esp. since a lot of teachers have a hard time. What did you do with presidential commercials? Did y'all make your own or put ones on there that are already out? I think it would be really interesting to see what students make if they create their own.

  2. Great project!!! Sometimes I envy English teachers. You guys have so many opportunities to do great things with your topics. You seem to really be taking off with the information you are learning in our class with your students. You go girl!!!!!

  3. Awesome!! I went to Alaska and got to meet the sled dogs and hear a park presentation. Have you ever done that? They even have a web cam on the puppies throughout the summer to keep tabs. I've watched them grow from a distance. Did you know they have a Target Iditarod grant? You should check it out!!! You'd be a good rep and deadlines are coming up to apply.
